The story behind SMYKBAR
SMYKBAR was founded in October 2020 by mother and son, Nina and Noah Middelboe.
With SMYKBAR, we want to give everyone the opportunity to be creative and create a space for connection and community in beautiful surroundings.
The story behind SMYKBAR
The idea for SMYKBAR was conceived when Noah was 15 years old and was making jewelry at the dining table. One day, he was supposed to meet his friends at a café and left his jewelry materials scattered without tidying up. His mother, Nina, asked if he could either tidy up or take the jewelry with him to the café. In that moment, the concept of a jewelry café emerged. They realized the concept together and created a unique concept that had never been seen elsewhere.
However, the passion for jewelry and gemstones began early. Noah was only 7 years old when he produced and sold his first pieces. With SMYKBAR, he aims to share that joy with others.

In a world where we are overwhelmed by stimuli, SMYKBAR provides a space for connection and deeper engagement. Here, we can meet in person with someone we cherish. Immerse ourselves in the sensory environment and beautiful materials—truly engage, touch, and create our own high-quality jewelry.
Because it is a piece of jewelry that holds special meaning and is uniquely meaningful to the creator or recipient of a SMYKBAR piece, we believe that people will feel more joy and pride in it. They will take better care of it, which contributes to a longer lifespan compared to similar types of "fast fashion" jewelry.

SMYKBAR launched the first jewelry cafés in Denmark with SMYKBAR Frederiksberg and SMYKBAR Østerbro in Copenhagen. SMYKBAR Aarhus opened in December 2022, followed by SMYKBAR Odense in June 2023.
In 2024, we launched our first international location in central Oslo. We have also recently opened a new café on Lyngby Hovedgade in Lyngby.
SMYKBAR is continuously expanding, opening more locations in Denmark and abroad.
